CHAPTER 1.08 - A FACE IN FALLEN LEAVES

Wolfram moves east from the path and climbs a tree that is clear of vines and underbrush. He scans the area and observes a section of ground about 100' way that is smothered by a lot of ground litter and leaves. A strong breeze picks up and then the leaves gather quickly and rise, forming a swirling shape that moves across the ground. Its form shifts and wavers as Wolfram watches.

He thinks it might be some form of elemental but cannot be certain because it is so far away. It continues moving further east and then remains stationery. Wolfram elects to climb down and follows, drawing closer to the leaves. While still at a distance he can see for the briefest of moments that an old man's face appears within the swirling mass of glittering gold and brown leaves.

Then, as quickly as the leaves formed, they shoot upward and disperse by fluttering back to the ground. Wolfram reaches the fallen leaves looking confused. He does realise however that he has reached a narrow game trail that circumnavigates the area that is overrun by deadly vines and creepers. Following that he travels for about half an hour and then rejoins the original path.
