Your senses will become heightened as you move forward with us. Strength, hearing and reflexes are your assets so use them well. But be wary ... even as your mind, body and spirit become enhanced your will also find yourself presented with unexpected vulnerabilities.

Silver is harmful to you. Avoid it. You will sense the presence of it whenever it is close. As the purity and quality of silver can vary so can the damage it deals to you accordingly. Blessed silver is the most deadly and, in the hands of skilled beast hunters and holy warriors, it will easily cause your death.

A simple piece of iron thrown by a stranger over your head (while transformed) can force you to shift back into your man form. Common volkskund makes many men believe this to be a myth but through bitter experience we know better.

Your journey on the path of the wolf will not be an easy one. You will find yourself tested and there will be difficult choices that you will have to make. Regardless of who you are and where you have come from you are now one of many and, most importantly, you are one of us.

Some forces of this world will actively seek you out. Some will embrace you and others will find your very existence an affront to all that is good in nature. But they fail to understand what you truly are. More than man and greater than any animal.

Most "afflicted" lycanthropes are solitary in their existence while "naturals" will co-exist in groups they call "tribes".

It is important to know that "afflicted" lycanthropes are always considered to be the lesser kind and, to show respect, they should always defer to the guidance of "naturals" and follow their commands and calling at all times.

Resistance to calling is possible although the weak-willed will find it difficult.

Joining the path of the wolf may have been by choice or by accident. Or the taint may have been contracted by infection from the bite of one who has already begun the journey.

But the condition can also be hereditory, by being born into it.

So, in general, you should know there are two classes of lycanthrope to which you might belong. "Natural" or "Afflicted".

Werewolf, Boxenwolf, Lycanthrope.

These are names you may be familiar with, or will become acquainted if you are not already. They are also names that identify those labelled with them as monsters. For, in fairness, that is what men perceive those of the path of the wolf to be.

Of course, you may simply be curious and not tainted by the mark of the wolf at all. Too bad if that is the case; reading is not being and your understanding will be limited by that.

Those who have joined the trail of the wolf will realise they have changed and they will quickly grow to know that men fear what they have become.
